Jurassic Pencil Stand

Roar into organization by creating your own pencil holder.

Materials

  • Green cardstock paper
  • Three toilet paper rolls (5.75” x 3.875”)
  • Cardboard base (approximately 5.5” x 2.5”)
  • Pom-poms (orange, black)
  • Googly eyes
  • Black permanent marker
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • Hot glue gun

Directions

  1. Draw and cut out three (3) 5.75” x 3.875” rectangles using green cardstock paper. Then, wrap and glue the cardstock paper to each of the rolls. These will hold the pencils.
  2. Cut out a cardboard base that is 5.5” x 2.5”. Then, also cut out 5.5” x 4” rectangle using green cardstock paper. Wrap and glue the green cardstock paper around the cardboard base.
  3. Place the toilet paper rolls standing up onto the base. Then glue each one down one at a time in a line.
  4. On two pieces of stacked green cardstock paper, freehand draw an outline of a Dynamite Dinosaurs Brachiosaurus cookie head/neck piece, and a tail piece (see image below). Then cut them out together so you have two head/neck pieces and two tail pieces.
  5. Align the two head/ neck pieces on top of each other. Then create a quarter inch flap by folding the straight edges away from each other. Glue the stacked head/neck pieces together except for the folded flaps. Repeat this step for the two tail pieces.
  6. Glue on googly eyes onto your dinosaur head. Then use your marker to draw in facial details like a mouth.
  7. Glue the folded flaps of the head/neck piece onto the dinosaur body on the left-most toilet paper roll. Then repeat this process with the tail piece onto the opposite side, the right-most toilet paper roll.
  8. For final details, glue the pom-poms onto the body as sprinkles. Then, let the dinosaur dry and add in your pencils!
