1. Cut out and glue down a large piece of green felt on the base surface of the shoe box. This will be the “grass” foreground.
2. Cut out and glue down pieces of tan felt on the inner walls on three sides of the shoe box facing you. This will be the middle ground showcasing trees and part of the river.
3. Cut out and glue down a large piece of light blue felt onto the inner top of the shoe box. This will be the “sky” background. Next cut out and glue down a long rectangular piece of tan felt, approximately 2” inches tall, so that it covers across the bottom of the light blue felt “sky.”
4. To create the river, cut out and glue down blue felt in a long wavy strip to run through the base surface of the shoe box. Then cut out and glue down two additional river pieces so that it flows onto the front facing inner wall and the inner top of the shoe box.
5. To create rocks, cut out and glue down two large rock shapes using tan felt that fit around the river piece on the front inner wall. Then create four additional small rocks (approx. 1.5” in length x 1” in height) to place and glue down around the river on the inner top of the shoe box. We placed two rocks horizontally on the bottom of the river and the other two rocks vertically on top.
6. Create trees by cutting out a fork-like shape for the trunk and branches using dark brown felt. Then use green felt to create the leaves and glue it behind the trunk and branches piece. Glue the trees down on the inner walls foreground on all three sides of the shoe box and arrange to your liking.
7. Create the volcano by cutting out a volcano mountain shape using dark brown felt. Then glue it down on the inner top background, on top of the tan felt next to the river. Create lava details by cutting out strips of orange, red, and yellow felt and glue them down on the volcano.
8. For final details, use yellow felt to cut out and glue down a circle for the sun. Then place it on the top right on the sky background. Next, use white felt to cut out and glue down white clouds around the sun.
9. Place your Mother’s Dynamite Dinosaurs Cookies within your prehistoric scene.
