Cretaceous Cupcake Craft

Dino-mite shapes made from cupcake liners!

Materials

  • Cupcake liners (blue, green)
  • Black and orange permanent marker
  • White circle stickers
  • Googly eyes
  • Hot glue gun
  • Scissors
  • Pencil

Instructions

Brachiosaurus

  1. Flatten and fold your cupcake liner in half, then glue the halves together to secure it. This will be the body.
  2. With another cupcake liner, freehand draw an outline of the head and neck piece (see image below). Then cut it out.
  3. With scrap pieces of liner, freehand draw two legs pieces and a tail piece. Then cut them out.
  4. Glue the head and neck piece, leg pieces, and tail piece onto the main body of the Brachiosaurus. Then glue on a googly eye onto the head.
  5. Color in the white circle stickers with the black and orange permanent marker to create sprinkles.
  6. Decorate the dinosaur with the black and orange stickers.

Pteranodon

  1. Flatten the cupcake liner and cut out a circle from the center of it. This will be the body.
  2. With the leftover scrap piece left of the perimeter of the liner (the accordion- like edges), cut it in half to create two sets of wings (see image below). 
  3. With another liner, freehand draw a head and neck piece, and two legs pieces. Then cut them out.
  4. Glue the head and neck piece and leg pieces onto the main body of the Pteranodon. Then glue on a googly eye onto the head.
  5. Color in the white circle stickers with the black and orange permanent marker to create sprinkles.
  6. Decorate the dinosaur with the black and orange stickers.

Tyrannosaurus Rex

  1. Flatten and fold your cupcake liner in half, then glue the halves together to secure it. This will be the body.
  2. With another cupcake liner, freehand draw an outline of the head and neck piece, an arm piece, a leg piece, and a tail piece (see image below). Then cut them out.
  3. Glue the head and neck piece on the body piece so the body is in an upright standing position. Then glue the arm, leg, and tail piece onto the body piece to assemble the T-Rex.
  4. Glue on a googly eye onto the head.
  5. Color in the white circle stickers with the black and orange permanent marker to create sprinkles.
  6. Decorate the dinosaur with the black and orange stickers.

Triceratops

  1. Flatten and fold your cupcake liner in half, then glue the halves together to secure it. This will be the body.
  2. Freehand draw the head and neck piece, a horn piece, two leg pieces, and a tail piece (see image below). Then cut it out.
  3. Glue the head and neck piece onto the side of the body piece. Then glue the horn onto the top of the head and neck piece.
  4. Glue the two leg pieces and the tail piece onto the body piece to assemble the Triceratops.
  5. Glue on a googly eye onto the head.
  6. Color in the white circle stickers with the black and orange permanent marker to create sprinkles.
  7. Decorate the dinosaur with the black and orange stickers.

    *Always have adult supervision when crafting with your kids using a hot glue gun and scissors!
