Toss-a-tops

Aim, toss, roar! Go wild in this prehistoric game.

Materials

  • White posterboard
  • Foam board (16” x 20”)
  • 3 pieces of white cardstock paper
  • Small plate 7.5” (to trace with)
  • Acrylic paint (blue, white, pink)
  • Paintbrushes
  • Pom-poms (orange, black)
  • Googly eyes
  • Black permanent marker
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • Hot glue gun
  • Plastic rings (ideally light ones to toss)

Instructions

  1. On the posterboard, freehand draw the head, inspired by the Mother’s® Dynamite Dinosaurs™ triceratops cookie (see image below).
  2. Glue your posterboard triceratops head onto your rectangular foam board to give it extra thickness and security.
  3. Use blue paint to color in the triceratops and let it dry.
  4. Use white paint to draw the outline of the face. Then use pink paint to make the mouth.
  5. Glue on googly eyes onto your dinosaur head.
  6. Create the horns by tracing a circle using your small plate on the cardstock paper. Then cut it out.
  7. Paint the circle with blue paint and let it dry.
  8. Fold the circle in half, then cut one line on the crease halfway to the center of the circle.
  9. Fold the cut flap inwards to make a cone shape, securing the flap with glue so the cone holds its shape.
  10. Repeat steps 5-9 twice more to create three cones total.
  11. Place the cone horns standing up with two above the face and one underneath the eyes, above the nose. Then glue them down.
  12. For final details, glue the pom-poms onto the face as sprinkles. Next use your black permanent marker to draw in the nostrils.

*Always have adult supervision when crafting with your kids using a hot glue gun and scissors!

How to Play:

Toss as many rings as you can onto the triceratops’ horns. May the best tricera-toss-er win!
